Millis Indexing Services was started by Kendra H. Millis, who came to indexing after working for a number of years in the field of international education. Her academic background focused on Russian and Polish literature, philosophy, and literary criticism. She received her undergraduate degree from Bryn Mawr College, her Master's degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and completed Ph.D. coursework at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Kendra received her training in indexing and copyediting through the University of California at Berkeley Extension and the Editorial Freelancers Association. She is a member of the American Society for Indexing (ASI) and the Indexing Society of Canada. She has served in a number of positions with ASI, including a total of 6 years on the board of directors, a term as president, and a period of time as the international representative. In 2020 she was awarded ASI's Hines Award, an award presented for "continuous dedication and exceptional service" to the society. Kendra is also now one of the instructors for the UC-Berkeley indexing course.

Our special fields of interest include literary criticism, Russian and East European studies, philosophy, and history. However, we enjoy working on projects in a variety of fields, of both scholarly and general interest. Our Past Projects page provides information about completed projects, in fields ranging from pop culture to military history, from health to biographies. A more extensive list of work is available upon request.
